Trail Closures & Alerts

The following list of closures and alerts is a collection of information sent to us by clubs across the state. Please be advised that trail closures may occur at anytime and may not be posted on this page immediately. Obey all signage and turn around when you see a Trail Closed sign. Please review the information below to help you plan your ride. For the most up to date information we suggest checking with your local snowmobile club. Always stay off bodies of water. "No Ice Is Safe Ice"

Corridor 7 is closed between BN 45 and RD 82. This will sever the trail connection in the southern portion of the Green Mountain National Forest and all VAST Trails to the north. You will not be able to ride North from the Manchester area or South from the Mount Tabor area.

Logging Operations Statewide - Anytime you have to go through log landings, STAY AWAY from equipment; cutters, loaders etc. Be sure the operators can see you. Stay out of their way. Usually once they complete a task they’ll let you through. Be patient. It’s their work area, not yours!

CALEDONIA COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

County-Wide
There is a curfew and posted speed limit on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail. The curfew is posted from 11PM to 6AM, and the speed limit is 35 MPH. These will be enforced by law enforcement agencies as future use of this trail depends on compliance.

St. Johnsbury/Danville
Trail 218 from CA30 in Danville to the Interstate 91 overpass in Waterford is closed due to storm damage. The Class 4 road in Danville and a section of private land in Passumpsic has been wiped out.

ESSEX COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

County-Wide

All trails on the Silvio O. Conte Fish & Wildlife Refuge are closed for the season.  Gates are closed and locked!

A SPEED LIMIT OF 35 MPH in the SILVIO O. CONTE FISH & WILDLIFE
REFUGE is in effect. This will be enforced heavily so keep your speed under control if you want to continue to be able to ride in this beautiful area. Speed Limit signs will be posted so pay attention!

Newark
Corridor Trail 114 from CA 98 to EX 20 is OPEN, as of 1/9/13.  Due to the club's diligence, the trail has been re-routed and is now open. 


Brighton
Corridor 114C between EX 294 & EX 293 will be shared with a logging operation throughout the winter.

Corridor 111 between OS 61 & EX 291 will be shared with a logging operation throughout the winter.

Corridor 111A between EX 261 & EX 262 (across bridge by the Gore Camp) will be shared with a logging operation throughout the winter.

Corridor 111B between EX 291 & EX 262will be closed this winter.

Corridor 114 between EX 241& EX 261 (Henshaw Rd) will be closed this winter.

Averill
Corridor 105 between EX 8 & EX 10 9 (Little Averill Lake Rd) will be shared with a logging operation throughout the winter.

Corridor 97 between EX 10 & EX 104 will be closed this winter.

Lemington
Corridor 96 between EX 112 & EX 502 will be shared with a logging operation throughout winter.

Lewis
Corridor 106C between EX 11 & EX 111 will be shared with a logging operation throughout the winter.

Corridor F102 between EX 174 & EX 501 will be shared with a logging operation throughout the winter.

Bloomfield

Corridor 96 between EX 501, EX 113, EX 112 and EX 502 will be closed for the winter. 

Corridor 106 (East Branch Road) will be closed as well between EX 113, EX 112 and EX 111. 

These two closures sever the North-South Route between Bloomfield and Canaan.  Use alternate trails 102(powerline) to 106C to 97A to 97 back to 96.

Victory/Granby

Corridor 1 between EX 522 & EX 52 (DC Line) will be closed this winter.

ORLEANS COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERT

Derby
The US/Canadian Border Crossing for snowmobilers in Derby Line is closed.  To cross between US and Canada you will have to travel to the Norton crossing.

FRANKLIN COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

County-Wide
There is a curfew and posted speed limit on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail. The curfew is posted from 11PM to 6AM, and the speed limit is 35 MPH. These will be enforced by law enforcement agencies as future use of this trail depends on compliance.

East Fairfield/Fletcher/Bakersfield
Corridor 104A between FN 82 and FN 83 will be closed for the winter. Use Trail 104 (FN82 to FN85 to FN83)

Corridor trail 36 between FN 81 and FN 8. No access from Fletcher to Bakersfield. Use Trail 108 instead. Limited grooming between FN7 and FN8. 


GRAND ISLE COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS


Alburg
Snowmobiles must stay on the trail is the Sand Dunes State Park. The club has worked hard to get a trail through this area and any problems of snowmobiles operating off the trail will result in immediate closure with no re-route option available. We are priveledged to be able to ride here so please respect it!

LAMOILLE COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

County-Wide

Eden
Corridor 14/100 will be plowed for logging between intersections LE 11 and OS 51.

Stowe
Corridor 100 (Shaw Hill) is closed.

Wolcott/Eden
Corridor 100 between LE 6 and LE 8 is closed.

ADDISON COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Hancock
Corridor 100 is closed between the Texas Falls Parking area off RTE 125 and AN 30.

Corridor 250 is closed between AN 45 and the Rochester Ranger Station.


CHITTENDEN COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Westford/Milton
Corridor 15 between CN 32 and CN 25 is currently closed

Jericho
Corridor Trail 2 near Skunk Hollow Road has a Curfew.  No Snowmobiles between the hours of 11:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M.

Cambridge/Jeffersonville
Corridor Trail 15 is closed between LE 31 & CN 22.  Parking will be available in teh field behind  The Cupboard Deli in Jeffersonville.

Central Vermont Trail Closures & Alerts


ORANGE COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Thetford
All trails in the Thetford areas are closed due to lack of snow.

Vershire
There is a logging operation taking place on Corridor 5 between OE 105 and OE 40 near the old Ely Mines.  Use caution as there may be equipment and falling trees near the trail.

Brookfield
The secondary trail from OE 100 to Allis State Park is closed indefinitely.  OE 100 is no longer an intersection.

Randolph
Corridor 66F to the Three Stallion Inn is closed. This cuts off a connection between Bethel and Randoph.  A section of this trail will be used as a feeder for local riders to gain access to the trail, but it is no longer a thru trail.

Secondary trail in Randolph between Route 66 and Route 12 dead ends at the railroad tracks.
 

WASHINGTON COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Marshfield
Corridor Trail 2/145 between intersections WN38 & WN 37 through Marshfield Village is closed.

Barre/Groton
Note that intersection WN 94 has been moved towards the top of Butterfield Mountain on Corridor 302 E/W due to a logging operation.  There is also a new 2.8 mile trail re-location on Corridor 302 that leads from the new WN 94 location back onto the old trail near intersection WN 9. 

Hancock
Corridor 100 is closed between the Texas Falls Parking area off RTE 125 and AN 30.

Corridor 250 is closed between AN 45 and the Rochester Ranger Station.  Access is still available from the Rochester Ranger Station to AN 46.

Southeast Vermont Trail Closures & Alerts


WINDHAM COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS


Weston
All trails in the Town of Weston are under curfew per order of the selectboard between the hours of 10 PM and 7 AM.  Snowmobiles may not travel on trails in town between these hours or access will be lost. This curfew is striclty enforced so please obey signage in all areas. Also note that Moses Pond Road is posted at 25 MPH maximum speed limit per order of the selectboard. If problems continue in this area riding priveledges will be lost for good so you make the choice. 

Saxtons River
The 150' suspension bridge across the Saxtons River is out.  This severs the connection on Corridor 5A between WM 60 and WM 61.  You can still ride as far as the bridge from the WM 60 side.
 

WINDSOR COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Bridgewater/Barnard
Corridor 12 is now open between WR 60 & WR 61.  Riders must obey the speed limits and yield to automobile traffic.  If the town hears any complaints the trail will be closed.

All trails along any Class III and Class IV Town Roads in Bridgewater are under close scrutiny. If there are any problems with snowmobiles at late hours, reckless riding or any other issues, all roads will immediately be closed to snowmobile traffic. This will shut off a number of corridor trails so please obey signage and operate safely or you will lose the priviledge of riding in this area.

Plymouth/Shrewsbury
Corridor 4 is closed between WR 80 and RD 67.

West Windsor
The West Windsor Moonlighters are announcing a 10:30 PM curfew on Corridor 5. Please respect the landowner wishes, as we are very fortunate to have this trail.  The north and south ends of the trail are marked so it can be bypassed by secondary trails for those snowmobiling after the curfew. Please watch for the signs.
 

Southwest Vermont Trail Closures & Alerts


BENNINGTON COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Danby/Dorset/Mt. Tabor/Manchester
Corridor 7 is closed between BN 45 and RD 82.  This will sever the connection between the southern portion of the Green Mountain National Forest and all VAST Trails to the north.

Arlington/Sunderland

Corridor C7F (Kelly Stand Road) is closed from the Arlington parking area (BN 20) to BN 19.

The Cobb Bacon trail between Route 7 and BN 19 is closed.

The Mystery Cabin Trail from BN 70 to BN 80 is closed for the season.
 

RUTLAND COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Danby/Dorset/Mt. Tabor/Manchester
Corridor 7 is closed between BN 45 and RD 82.  This will sever the connection between the trails in the Mount Tabor area and all trails south towards Manchester and Woodford.

Plymouth/Shrewsbury
Corridor 4 is closed between WR 80 and RD 67.
